Eiji Oue Returns on Dec. 14&15, 2013

A Classical Concert for the Holidays!

After a long absence from the Twin Cities, Eiji Oue former Minnesota Orchestra Music Director and Grammy nominee makes his return to Minnesota with a performance at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium!

Eiji Oue was born in Japan and started to take piano lessons at the age of 4. Then, at the of age 15, he entered Toko Gakuen School of Music as a performance major. Oue has toured around the world serving as the conductor or musical director for numerous orchestras such as New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Minnesota Orchestra. His numerous honours and awards include the 1980 Koussesvitzky Prize at Tanglewood, and both the prize and the Hans Harig Gold Medal at the 1981 Salzburg Mozarteum conducting competition.

Maestro Oue and the Minnesota Orchestra Musicians will open the program with holiday favorites from the famous ballet, the Nutcracker. They will be joined by outstanding pianist, Jon Kimura Parker, for a performance of the iconic Piano Concerto No. 1. The program will close with the very popular Symphony No. 4.
