Bon Odori Rehearsal

Today’s post concerns a special gathering organized in part by JASM. On Monday, July 30, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., the Bon Odori Dance Team, who will be performing during the Obon Festival, is going to rehearse and is inviting anybody to come join them to learn and practice the dance! Individuals who are unable to attend the Obon Festival are also invited to come. The Bon Odori dance is a traditional dance performed at festivals all over Japan to welcome the spirits of ancestors during the Obon festival. Nihonjinkai/Japanese Library Annual Garage Sale 2018

One day only! Saturday, July 21  From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  All proceeds benefit the free Japanese library and MN Nihonjinkai elderly group. This is a great sale that includes all the “usual” garage sale items (knick-knacks, clothes, furniture, sporting goods, electronics, books, toys, stuffed animals, household items) but also beautiful, gently used Japanese gift items, “Shiso” (Beefsteak plants) Manga comic books and our handmade greeting cards, which is our primary source of support. JASM is searching for volunteers for the year’s annual Obon Festival on Sunday, August 19th! These volunteers help with a variety of tasks, from assisting in the festival set-up process to manning our various booths (specifics can be found below). Please stay tuned for more details!
