INTERNSHIPS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

Are you Interested in a career in International Business or International Relations? Do you have an interest in Japan or speak Japanese? If the answer is yes, the Japan America Society of Minnesota (JASM) has an opportunity for you!

Hours Per Week: 20-25

Internship Description

Event Coordinator/Graphic Creator

  • Assist with event planning and staff reception table at events.
  • Responsible for updating current members with various event information and announcements.
  • Create posters and necessary graphics for the organization
  • Create and procure necessary equipment for specific events, such as name tags and so forth.
  • Responsible for updating social media outlets used by JASM to further disseminate events.

Media Relations Coordinator

  • Creating the outline and layout of the Tsushin, JASM’s Monthly Newsletter.
  • Adding content based on past JASM events, as well as through collaboration with various JASM members and corporate members.
  • Writing/editing the content so that everything is grammatically sound and error-free by the deadline.

While each position has their own specific duties, it is also very likely that some duties will overlap based on need and availability of our interns.

Internship Qualifications

  • Interest in Japan required; Japanese language skills helpful but not required
  • Undergraduate student or recent graduate (Asian Studies, Business, International Relations, Japanese Language, or international-related major preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with MS office environment (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet
  • Willing to work flexible hours and participate in JASM events (some evenings and weekends)
