Joe Montgomery is a business development, communications and marketing professional working in the Twin Cities. As Global Account Director for Star, an experiential and retail-focused creative agency, he has worked with many leading companies including General Mills, Stratasys, Inc., Renewal by Anderson, Cirrus Aircraft, and ESPN to help them grow their businesses through effectively connecting and engaging with their audiences.

Joe is passionate about people, ideas and growing organizations through strategic relationship building and development of long term partnerships. He brings a creative and entrepreneurial spirit to his work.

Joe’s experience with Japan begins with the study of Japanese at Armstrong High School with Sensei Mike Smart. He was awarded a Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship in 1997 to attend Japanese high school in Tokyo, where he lived with host families and attended school at Sekei Senior High (located with Seikei University).

Later, he continued his Japanese studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and graduated with a degree in International Studies. Joe loves cooking, traveling, and meeting new people. He lives with his wife and young son in South Minneapolis.

Joe has been a member and volunteer with JASM since 2013. He has most recently been involved in membership communication, growth, and outreach and is committed to supporting and growing JASM.
